Help using this site

We have done our upmost to make this web site easy to use by a variety of users.  This includes providing ways to manipulate the web site to make it easier for you.  These ways are describe below. For supplemental information, please visit the MyWebMyWay website

Text Size

textsize.jpgThe text size of the website can be resized by using the text resizing buttons available at the right hand side of the page in the blue area. You can see an example of the area to the right of this text.

Alternatively, most web browsers include functionality to let you increase or decrease the text in a Web page. The list below specifies the key combinations

Shortcut Keys

Shortcut keys allow the user to use the keyboard specific parts of a web page. The list below specifies the active shortcut keys.

s = skip
p = print
c = contact us
e = email page

1 = Home
2 = Heart disease
3 = Stroke
4 = Carers
5 = About us
6 = Site map

How to use the Shortcut keys

There are many browsers available that recognise designated access keys. Each has its own combination to activate the keys. The list below specifies the key combination for the most common browsers.

PC Based Browsers

  • Internet Explorer 5+
    Hold down the ALT key, press the required access key, release both keys then press ENTER
  • Internet Explorer 4
    Hold down the ALT key and press required access key
  • Firefox 2
    Hold down the ALT key and press the required access key
  • Netscape 7
    Hold down the ALT key and press the required access key
  • Opera
    Hold down the Shift key and press Escape, release both keys, then press the required accesskey


Mac Based Browsers

  • Internet Explorer 5+
    Hold down the CTRL key and press the required access key
  • Firefox, Mozilla
    Hold down the CTRL key and press the required access key
  • Safari, Omniweb
    Hold down the CTRL key and press the required access key

Abbreviations

This site uses abbreviations or acronyms on some of the pages. Their definition can be found by putting the mouse cursor over the abbreviation or acronym. These are styled in the form of a dashed line under the abbreviation or acronym.



Technical

Stylesheets

The website employs stylesheets to format the page. The structure of the pages allow screen readers to read the content when stylesheets are disabled or not supported
 

Skipping to main content
This site has a skip to main content link which can be found at the top of each page. Screen readers have been taken into consideration and will automatically read them as one of the first links


This site has been built to guidelines specified in the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Content Accessibility Guidelines [http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG10/]. We employ a number of features to allow access for disabled users. Whilst we do not state that this site will improve access for all disabled users, it will provide adequate access for the majority.
